Project Three: Treasuring Time

The treasuring time project was given to create an object that would celebrate, record or remind its user about a treasuring time but the object should go beyond traditional memory preserves. In response to the project aim, I made wire tree for reminding 'Christmas card exchange' moment. I have done many experiments with different sizes of wire to find proper size for my product. Through all the experiments I choose 1.25mm wire size as it is strong enough to hold a Christmas card and still flexibly easy to bend by hand.

Basically the wire tree suppose to place on a dinner table on Christmas Eve (could be any memorable day as well). And each family member writes down a Christmas card for other family members and hangs it all together on the wire tree before starting dinner. During dinner time, every family member exchanges their Christmas card and enjoys the memorable day together. The idea behind Christmas card exchange should be reminding each other’s treasuring moment and enjoying the Christmas spirit in an interactive way through the wire tree.

hi
im going to comment you design and kinda take a guess at what you are trying to say cause you havent really written a rational.
this look like a tree that you can hang cards on which i am using preserves memorys of certain occasions?
if this is right
then i think your idea is really cute and creative.
i like the use of simple metal that is shaped as the simplicity of the shape and materials means the user can focur on the cards more.
a way to improve you deisgn is maybe change the way the the card is held like grabing it from 2 or more points
because i think that with only the middle one cards that can get quite heavy mayb fall out.
other then that your idea was good, although its hard to know what you meant.

hey mark,

interesting design you got here. i think your concept ties in very well with the outcome of the project. its great how it focuses on keeping the family together. the only thing i would add to this is maybe a different choice of material? maybe something much more bendable and not so metallic would give the product a much warmer feel to it. but overall good job.

I think the concept is good and christmas's with the family should be cherished howeverI'm not sure about the design of the holder for christmas celebrations, if you hadn't said it was for christmas i wouldn't have know. Maybe as Ray said a more suitable material would've given a warmer christmas feel but also the shape could be more along the lines of a christmas tree or other christmas symbol.

i like the idea behind this design assuming its for christmas cards. the materials used however make the product look quite fragile and unstable. using a different material may help the this and also give a more warm christmas feel than the metal wire you have chosen.

A relatively good idea. This project was hard to try and come up with something new, as there are already so many products out there that have captured "time." This product does take a new turn on some already existing products. Overall i think that is a good project, and if it relating to christmas it could have been shaped a little differently to maybe give more of an impression of christmas, or some use of colour.
